newsandinfo There is a new way to make the trip from South Florida to the Bahamas.
Thursday, Bahamas-Florida Express launched “The Cat,” one of the fastest high-speed ferries in North America. The ferry runs from Port Everglades to Grand Bahama Island, and the company says it will cost less than flying.
The catamaran holds 900 passengers and the trip to the island takes two hours. The ferry departs Fort Lauderdale at 4 p.m. and leaves Grand Bahama at 10 a.m.
Ticket prices range between $129 and $189 for adults and $70 for children ages 3 to 17.
