Deghi is one of 10 teachers receiving a Wells Fargo Earthwatch Fellowship this school year to participate in an environmental research expedition aimed at studying the effects of climate change on coral reefs.
The first-grade teacher at San Mateo Park Math and Science Magnet School will be on San Salvador Island in the Bahamas from Feb. 23 through March 1.
During her research, Deghi will be able to share her experience with her student using Earthwatch’s Live from the Field program. Students will be able to communicate with Deghi with questions and learn how everyday actions can affect the government on Thursday, Feb. 28.
