shows A colourful fragment of Bahamian culture will hit London in July when a 30-member group from the Bahamas will be performing seven different Junkanoo festivals over the course of 21 days.
The group is made up of members from the two top Junkanoo groups. Minister of State for Culture Charles Maynard said he expects it will be a boost to the Bahamas travel industry as it should encourgae more visitors to the Bahamas.
“This is a historic occasion for The Bahamas,” Maynard said. “This is going to help promote our tourism industry, this is going to help promote our culture and most of all, we’re going to send the best of the best in terms of our Junkanoo artists, to show the world what is special about The Bahamas.”
Junkanoo will be in London from July 2 – 22. The event is being sponsored by the Arts Counsel of England.
