golf Resorts and golf courses in the Caribbean continue the cleanup and restoration process in the aftermath of the various hurricanes in the past six weeks.
In the Bahamas, all of the island nation’s international airports and deep water harbors and most hotels are open for business, according to the Bahamian government.
Grand Bahama Island — impacted the most by Hurricane Frances — continues to rebound with all resorts reporting re-opening dates if they are not open already. While some properties suffered structural damage on Grand Bahama Island, most resorts reportedly sustained minimal cosmetic damage.
The Sheraton at Our Lucaya (and the Isle of Capri Casino) is scheduled to resume operations Oct. 1, with The Westin at Our Lucaya re-opening Nov. 1. The Wyndham Viva Fortuna Beach will re-open Dec. 1 while the Royal Oasis Golf Resort & Casino is scheduled to open again Feb. 1.
Most major resorts in Nassau/Paradise Island are back in operation, including the Atlantis-Paradise Island, Nassau Beach Hotel, British Colonial Hilton, Radisson Cable Beach & Golf Resort and Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino.
In the Out Islands of The Bahamas, Harbour Island, Eleuthera, Spanish Wells, Exuma, Bimini, Andros, Abaco and Long Island reported minimal property damage. Most properties, if not traditionally closed for the fall season, continue to accept reservations.
