lodging Known for its spectacular ocean-front setting, world-class service and amenities, and luxury accommodations, Old Bahama Bay by Ginn sur Mer was recently awarded the highly distinguished Four Diamond Award by the American Automobile Association (AAA), as announced by General Manger Bob Van Bergen.
“We are thrilled to be awarded the prestigious rating of Four Diamond by the American Automobile Association,” said Van Bergen. “This distinction recognizes our commitment to providing the service standards required of a Four-Diamond property to all of our guests.”
The AAA Diamond rating process, which was created by the non-profit organization, is considered to be one of North America’s premier hotel rating systems. Approximately 32,000 hotels throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean are currently AAA Approved.
To obtain the highly regarded Four Diamond status, Old Bahama Bay by Ginn sur Mer recently underwent an in-depth evaluation in which professional evaluators from AAA visited the property to assign a rating. During their stay, the evaluators determined that the luxury resort’s accommodations were progressively more refined and stylish than a standard property while the physical attributes of the resort reflect an obvious level of enhanced quality throughout. Old Bahama Bay’s extensive array of amenities including dining options, on-site activities and facilities combined with the resort’s high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail, which are considered to be the fundamental hallmarks in the rating system, allowed the property to achieve this exclusive rating.
Known for its “barefoot elegance,” the tranquility of the Old Bahama Bay’s secluded hammock-lined beach provides an ideal island escape. With the resort’s wide-range of on-site activities, guests can choose to relax at pristine oceanfront swimming pool, beautiful beaches and massage pavilion, or they can participate in more adventurous activities including fishing, diving, snorkeling and boating activities. Resort amenities include complimentary use of sail boats, kayaks, snorkel equipment, Hobie cats, the fitness center, and bicycles. Guests can also dine at any of the resort’s three restaurants, including the oceanfront Straw Bar, the casual Bonefish Folley’s Bar & Grille or Aqua, the resort’s fine dining restaurant featuring an innovative Bahamian-fusion menu.
Throughout their stay, guests will enjoy luxury accommodations in the resort’s spacious 500 square-feet guest suites, which are elegantly decorated in a classic Island Plantation decor and are just steps away from the turquoise sea. Each of the 73 suites feature a stunning 120 square-foot ocean-view terrace overlooking the water and are filled with extra touches of luxury, such as robes, Dorothy Prentice Aromatherapy bath products, a refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee maker, DVD and CD players (with movie and music libraries), custom designed furnishings, cable television and much more.
The property is also undergoing major advancements as Ginn Resorts has assumed operations of the area in January 2007. The Celebration, Fla. based company is currently developing Ginn sur Mer, a 2,000-acre resort community adjacent to Old Bahama Bay that will contain more than 4,400 condominium and hotel units, nearly 2,000 single family residential home sites, Signature golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, clubhouses, two large marinas, a private airport, a Monte Carlo style-casino, water and swim pavilions, a beach club and a spa. The $4.9 billion Ginn sur Mer development will serve as Ginn Resorts’ flagship Caribbean development.
Located just 56 miles east of Palm Beach, Florida, offering easy access to those traveling by private vessel as well as air, Old Bahama Bay is comprised of a lush gated marina and resort. Old Bahama Bay provides an out-island experience with the convenience of the Grand Bahama International Airport only 26 miles away making this a perfect choice for a tropical escape.
