cuisine Bennigan’s has opened its first restaurant in the Bahamas. Located in the Marathon Mall in Nassau, the restaurant features the largest Bennigan’s bar across the globe.
The restaurant measures 6,400-square feet and includes an outdoor patio, flat-screen televisions in the bar area, and an On-the-Go area. The restaurant also installed a draft beer system and is the first casual dining restaurant in Nassau to bring draft beer to the region.
This is the first Bennigan’s for franchise group Casual Dining Restaurants.
“The Bennigan’s brand is well known here,” said Chris Mortimer, president of Casual Dining Restaurants. “A lot of Bahamians travel to Florida where Bennigan’s has a strong presence, so they’ve really taken to having the brand in their own backyard.”
In addition to serving traditional Bennigan’s fare, the restaurant also serves local Bahamian-flavored side dishes like Macaroni and Cheese and Peas and Rice, and Fried Conch Minis are a new addition to the entree menu.
“We expect the food and the bar to drive business,” said Tammy Osborne, Director of Franchise Operations for Bennigan’s. “Our opening week brought in more than $100,000 in sales, and local residents are really embracing the restaurant.”
The opening marks Bennigan’s 52nd international location.
