THE GARDEN OF THE GROVES, GRAND BAHAMA A 12-acre botanical wonderland with over 5,000 varieties of native and regional plants. Waterfalls and a lake. Open weekdays 9am to 4pm, weekends & holidays10am to 4pm. Tel: (242) 373-5668.

HYDROFLORA GARDENS, GRAND BAHAMA This 5-acre garden features plants of the Bible and Holy Land. Open Mon to Sat. Admission $3 unguided; $5 guided. Tel. (242) 352-6052.

BOTANIC GARDENS Featuring more than 1,600 species of plants, including those indigenous to The Bahamas. Amid the greenery is a small Lucayan Village showing how homes of the ‘Original Bahamians’ may have looked. Home to the national herbarium: a storage of dried specimens for plant research. The garden is a popular wedding site. Open 8am to 4pm, Mon. to Fri. Entrance fee. Tel: (242) 323-5975.

ARDASTRA GARDENS & ZOO Casually stroll around 5-1/2 acres of beautiful tropical gardens and watch the world-famous marching flamingos perform with military precision at 11:10am, 2:10pm and 4:10pm. See iguanas, monkeys, snakes and birds, including rare Bahama parrots. Open daily 9am to 5pm. Last admission 4:30pm. Adults; $10, children 4-12, $5; under 4, free. Located off West Bay St. Tel.
